The Broken Pillar
Every major culture in the world has different myths and histories as to exactly how the world came to be. To the great Talasheen, a single god created the world for the majestic dragons, with the spawn of men destined to be their servants. To the Ardenti, many gods took part in the creation of the world, and in much of history.
In all of them, however, a curiously similar story exists – whether anecdote or central dogma. During the creation of the universe, the heavens were suspended above the earth upon great pillars, thereby establishing the order of the cosmos.
There is strong truth in this myth. There are 23 pillars, though none but the gods know their locations. And at some point in the past, one of them was broken.
Basic History, to be fleshed out later.
